Staff
Admission Counselor
Most Admission Counselors hold a masters or bachelors degree, and/or certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. All Admission staff are extensively trained in assessing patient needs for treatment. The average length of service for this group is 5+ years.
Physicians/Psychiatrists
Betty Ford Center consulting medical staff includes both medical and psychiatric physicians. Many of our physicians hold more than one Board Certification and all are Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, which requires years of rigorous training, course work and testing. Every member of the medical staff must obtain on-going continuing education hours applicable to addiction treatment. Together, they have 88 years of experience in the field of addiction treatment services.
Nurses
The Nursing Department includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Psychiatric and Licensed Vocational Nursing personnel. Many of the Registered Nurses have achieved certification as Chemical Dependency RNs. A Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner assists the medical staff with psychiatric evaluations. Nursing and medical care is provided 24/7.
Psychologists
Betty Ford Center's consulting medical staff includes four (4) psychologists. Each psychologist must obtain on-going continuing education hours applicable to addiction treatment.
Primary Counselors
Betty Ford Center Counselors must have extensive experience in addiction treatment with a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree and certification as an Alcohol Drug Abuse Counselor. Approximately 80% of the counseling staff hold a Masters degree or higher. The average length of service for this group is 10 years.
Case Managers
Betty Ford Center Case Managers possess at least a Bachelors degree, and each averages over eight years of experience in the field of addiction treatment. Their service with the Center ranges from five to 27 years.
Dieticians
Betty Ford Center Dieticians hold Masters Degrees and are Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). Our full-time dieticians are registered with the American Dietetic Association and have served as resource specialists for both eating disorders and chemical dependency. Together, our dieticians have over 33 years of combined experience with nutritional counseling for the chemically dependent population.
Spiritual Care Counselors
Betty Ford Center's Spiritual Care staff uniquely combines elements of both counseling and spirituality. Many of our counselors are specifically trained and/or have experience with spiritual counseling, spiritual direction, chemical dependency counseling, grief counseling, and various parish ministries. Our highly skilled staff is well equipped to explore the spirituality of the 12 Steps while helping patients distinguish their own differences between spirituality and religion. Staff meets with each patient to help guide spiritual growth and development in many areas. Years of service at the Center by the Spiritual Care staff range from three to 15 years.
Family Counselors
Each Family Counselor is required to have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree and three years of experience in the field of addiction treatment. Professional expertise coupled with personal recovery adds to the quality of care that our counselors offer families. The Family Program staff has an average of eight years experience in the field of addiction.
Fitness Trainers
College-educated personal trainers with fitness certifications, graduate degrees, and medical experience comprise the Fitness staff. This department works closely with the Medical Department to help patients work comfortably through detoxification issues and/or health concerns.
Technicians
Along with Nursing, Technicians staff our facility 24/7. Nearly all Betty Ford Center Technicians have personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency, which allows them to share their strength, hope and experience with our patients on a daily basis. Technicians are encouraged to continue their education, and many have moved into counseling and other positions within the organization.
