Bernie McInerny – Director/NDP-RDT

Bernie McInerny, Ph.D., is the Director of the Betty Ford Center’s Residential Day Treatment program. He has been treating alcohol and drug patients since 1962, beginning at the Department of Corrections at the California Rehabilitation Center in Corona. Advanced degrees started with CSUN, Laurence, & UCLA at the Neuropsychiatric Institute & BRI. Retiring from the Department of Corrections in 2000 after supervising sexual violent predators, he continued in private practice, consulting for several companies in executive stress management before coming to the Betty Ford Center.


Camille Nicholas, MS, Director of Patient Care Services

Camille Nicholas, MS, is the Director of Patient Care and Attendant Services.  Camille holds a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice and Psychology.  Camille began her career at the Betty Ford Center in 2002 as a Chemical Dependence Technician.  Upon completion of her Master’s degree, she was asked to join BFC’s management team and has been a Director for the past five years.


Catherine McLeod, Director of Financial Services

Catherine McLeod is the Director of Patient Accounts Services. Her work in this field began in 1983, and she previously held the positions of Patient Accounts Supervisor and Patient Accounts Manager at Betty Ford Center.  Catherine is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and joined the staff of Betty Ford Center in 1995.


Courtney McShay, Director of Admissions

Courtney McShay is the Director of Admissions, overseeing the admissions process for patients who begin their treatment at Betty Ford Center. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and joined the Betty Ford Center in 2001.


Jennifer Dewey – Manager of Fitness

Jennifer Dewey, MS, CFT, is the Director of the Fitness Department. Jennifer holds a Master’s Degree in Recreation and Sport Management Science. She is also certified in numerous fitness areas: Aerobic Fitness Association of America as a personal fitness trainer, Aquatic Exercise Association as an aquatic specialist and Yoga Fit Training as a yoga instructor. She began working at the Betty Ford Center in 1996 as the Fitness Coordinator and over the years advanced to her current position.


Jerry Moe, Vice President, National Director of Children’s Program

Jerry Moe, MA, is Vice President and National Director of Betty Ford Children’s Programs and Training Academy.  Internationally known as an author, lecturer, and trainer on issues for young children from addicted families, Jerry is featured in the documentary Lost Childhood: Growing Up in an Alcoholic Family.  His books include:  Kids’ Power: Healing Games for Children of Alcoholics; Discovery… Finding the Buried Treasure; Kids’ Power Too: Words to Grow By; The Children’s Place… At the Heart of Recovery, the Beamer Series for Kids, and Understanding Addiction and Recovery Through a Child’s Eyes.


Johanna O’Flaherty, Ph.D, Vice President of Treatment Services

Johanna O’Flaherty, Ph.D., is Vice President of Treatment Services at the Betty Ford Center.  She holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and is a National Certified Addiction Specialist and Certified Employee Assistance Professional.  For over 20 years, she developed and managed Airline Employee Assistance Programs and has also served as a Certified Trainer for Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Programs.  Dr. O’Flaherty is a Nationally Certified Addiction Specialist (Advanced Level) and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional.  She began working at Betty Ford Center in 2007.


John McAndrew, Director of Spiritual Care

John McAndrew, MA, M.Div., is Director of Spiritual Care at the Betty Ford Center .  He is also a spiritual teacher, facilitator, counselor, musician and poet. For nearly three decades, he has directed retreats, workshops, and educational opportunities for people seeking spiritual growth.  With a background in literature, music and theology, he has applied himself to sharing his experience, strength and hope in diverse settings, including hospice care, faith communities and detention facilities.  He joined the Betty Ford Center staff in 2011.


Julie Leizorek, Director of Dietary

Julie Leizorek is the Director of Dietary Services at Betty Ford Center and began working on campus in the early 2000s.  She has been in this field since 1985 and previously held the position of Director of Dietary at Acute Care Facilities.  Julie is Serv-Safe certified and is in the process of becoming a Certified Dietary Manager.  She holds a degree in Business Administration, and for over 15 years, she owned and managed  new restaurants.  She is an employee of Sodexo, the company that provides all dietary needs on campus.


Mark Baumgartner, Director of Inpatient Treatment Services

Mark Baumgartner has been the Clinical Director of the Betty Ford Center’s Inpatient Program since 2003.  His is also the Clinical Director of the Young Adult 120-Day Treatment Program.  In 1991, Mark received his Master of Education in Counseling at Stephen F. Austin State University Graduate School.  He has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1996 and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor since 1991.  He is also a Trainer of Ropes Course Facilitator.


Mary Gordon, Director of Family and Outpatient Services

Mary Gordon, MA, Director of  Family and Outpatient Services, is an active advocate for family recovery.  For 27 years, she has served as a clinician, educator and administrator in the field of prevention, education, and treatment of the family disease of chemical dependency both in New England and California.  For the past 12 years, she has served in several capacities at Betty Ford Center, including Outpatient and Family Counseling, Business Development, and liaison for the Licensed Professionals Program at the Center.   She has presented at Women’s Conferences throughout the United States and Canada.
