Are some countries more prone to alcoholism?

Question :  Are there some nations more prone to alcoholism than others?  Answer :  It seems that way. People who live in or whose origins are in the northern water countries of Europe appear to drink more and have a higher rate of alcoholism. These countries include Ireland, England, the Scandinavian countries, Germany, France, Poland and Russia. Countries that border the Mediterranean  - Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, and North African countries – have lower rates of alcoholism.
