Therapeutic Aftercare

Therapeutic Aftercare is available to individuals 18 years and older who have completed alcohol treatment, drug treatment and/or a Family Program and feel there is more to discover and uncover. Participants should have a minimum of 30 days abstinence and motivation toward continuing their recovery.

Therapeutic Aftercare meets weekly, in the evening, to support and encourage those who have a foundation in recovery. Sessions are gender-specific and address the issues of the chemically dependent and family members in separate groups. All groups are facilitated by Betty Ford Center staff.

Therapeutic Aftercare may benefit participants in the following ways:

• Bridging the gap between completing treatment and entering the 12-Step community
• Providing emotional support for day-to-day living through the ups and downs of post-acute withdrawal, including fears of work and family re-entry
• Helping participants maintain and build connections with others who are new in recovery
• Encouraging participants to continue developing recovery skills such as: healthy boundaries, awareness of cross-addiction, improved communication and building healthy relationships
• Addressing specific issues of early recovery, such as: sponsorship, conflict resolution and sober holiday survival

Participation in Therapeutic Aftercare is open to the public and an ideal compliment to early recovery and Family Program participation.
