The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies

“The Premier Source for Addictions Information and Continuing Education on the World Wide Web”

An exciting concept for securing Continuing Education Credits and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the addictions field via the Internet.

All DLCAS.com courses are a joint presentation of the Betty Ford Center and the Distance Learning Center, LLC and are open to the public.

The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies (DLCAS.com) is an Internet-based educational service that permits participants the opportunity to obtain educational credits toward state and/or national licensure or certification over the Internet.  This includes either initial education credits for licensure or certification and continuing education credits for re-licensure or re-certification. By way of distance education, a student or counselor can obtain part of their required credits in the convenience of their own home, at their own pace and time frame. Using distance education saves considerable amounts of both time and money.

What is Distance Education?

Distance education is a guided set of learning activities that provide high quality content linked to current research as well as widely accepted academic work, along with access to the instructor or training provider. The majority of state certifying or licensing bodies currently allow students to obtain some portion of their education credits toward original or continued licensure or certification by way of distance education. This allows a person to earn basic or continuing educational credits without the added expense of travel, hotels, meals, and time away from home or work.

Nationally Approved Training

DLCAS.com is an approved training provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Provider # 0229. DLCAS.com courses are also approved by many of the major certification/licensure bodies including:

  • The National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC);
