Substance Abuse

Substance abuse has taken the lives of many addicts and ruined the lives of their loved ones forever. It is a disease that will affect almost everybody in one way or another during their lifetime. It does not play favorites or pick and choose who it affects. We all have the potential to become addicts and once you do it can be the hardest thing you could ever experience to break the hold substance abuse can have.

The mind and body goes through changes that can permanently damage them. They no longer are controlled by you. They feed off the drugs and if you try to stop your body goes through such rejection you may wish you were dead. Recovery is not impossible though. With the proper treatment and care you can break the hold alcohol or drugs has on you and regain control of your life.

Recovery from substance abuse is a long, hard road to travel. The initial shock of your body detoxifying will be the most physically challenging part of the journey. Once you have a clear head and pure body again you will begin to feel emotions held back by the substance abuse. With the assistance of doctors, counselors, and therapists you will sort through these emotions and learn what triggered the downward spiral towards addiction. Individual and group sessions will help you regain confidence in yourself and give you new tools to cope with the stresses of life.

There will be good days and days filled with sadness and apprehension. You will have breakthroughs that open your eyes to what you have to offer as a person and give you back the confidence to face life with a clear mind and body. Once you have completed the initial program of treatment you will make the transition back to your life and family.
