Betty Ford Center Acknowledges Accreditation Process
Betty Ford Center recently received Accredited status for all services surveyed under the ‘Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Behavioral Health Care.’ This is a process issued by The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
The process is designed to help organizations continuously provide safe, high-quality care, treatment and services by identifying opportunities for improvement and helping implement those improvements as indicated.
“We have welcomed The Joint Commission to survey our programs and facilities since we opened our doors 30 years ago,” said Betty Ford Center CEO John Schwarzlose. “This is a voluntary process that tells our consumers and potential patients that as a hospital, we meet and exceed important criteria.”
The mission of The Joint Commission is as follows: “To continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. “
The Joint Commission was founded in 1951 and has gained a reputation as the leader in developing the highest standards for quality and safety in the delivery of health care, and evaluating organization performance based on these standards. As noted above, more than 19,000 health care organizations use Joint Commission standards to guide how they administer care and continuously improve performance. This is also the only accrediting organization with the capability and experience to evaluate health care organizations across the continuum of care.
