Gil Kerlikowske, Director of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) delivered a major speech at the Betty Ford Center on Monday, June 11th, 2012 calling on Americans to understand drug addiction as a chronic disease of the brain instead of a moral failure, and outlined the importance of Federal, state, local, and community efforts to lift the stigma associated with substance use disorders.
