SECURITY

Security Professional - Per Diem

Competencies:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.  Under the direction of the Lead Security Professional, provides security and safety of all patients, staff and visitors.
2.  As needed, must be able to handle patient and visitor situations that may require physical restraint.
3.  Handles all traffic related matters and assist with emergency situations involving patients and/or visitors.
4.  Functions as a resource regarding facility information for patients and visitors.
5.  Patrols campus on foot and/or using a golf cart to ensure a safe environment.
6.  Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
7.  Supports the Security Department mission.
8.  Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
9.  Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures.
10. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
11. Maintain an active knowledge of security emergency procedures and environment of care standards.

 

Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree

Experience:

Any combination of experience equivalent to at least 2 years in security operations or field experience in a law enforcement agency. Healthcare Security experience preferred. Record must be free from convictions of any violent felony or any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude and from an excessive number of citations for traffic violations. Must possess a current state of California Drivers License. Must have the ability to treat everyone, regardless of his or her nationality, religious beliefs, economic status or gender or lifestyle in a professional manner. Demonstrates effective communication organizational ability, interpersonal skills, ability to follow instructions. Having a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Licensure:

Must possess a current California Guard Card or have the ability to obtain a valid Proprietary Private Security Officer registration within six months of employment. Current CPR card or obtain within 90 days of employment. Must possess a valid California Drivers License.

PATIENT CARE SERVICES

Attendant - Per Diem

Competencies:

a. Ability to read/write/speak in English language, document professionally.
b. Computer typing skills-ability to use various software programs as it pertains to job
c. Organizational/time management
d. Ability to work as a member of a team
e. Customer service skills
f. Knowledge of C.D. and recovery
g. Good communication skills
h. AGE SPECIFIC-ability to work with patients ages 18-65, plus
i. CULTURAL COMPETENCIES-ability to work with patients of varying cultural backgrounds
j.  Able to provide some direct care/assistance to patients
k. Able to take vital signs and UDS’s
l.  Able to make accurate observations of patient’s physical and or emotional status 
m. Able to assess situations and select the correct course of action.

Essential Job Functions:
1.   Understands and follows policies and procedures for assigned tasks.
2.   Provides continuous monitoring and assistance to assigned patient. 
3.   Provides care to patient this may include: assistance with ambulation, daily hygiene routines and other physical needs, as indicated.
4.   Is continuously with patient.  Does not leave patient unobservered unless otherwise approved by BFC staff.
5.   Accompanies patient to dining room and assists patient with getting their meal.
6.   Documents all patient interactions and observations.   
7.   Communicates regularly with nursing staff and Clinical staff.
8.   Accompanies patient to all BFC scheduled program activities.
9.   Reports unusual events, vital signs and/or other changes in patient’s condition immediately to medical staff.
10.  May assist patient in maintaining a safe, organized room.
11.  May take vital signs and UDS’s when needed.
12.  Attends shift change pass down to provide information on patient status.
13.  Utilizes BFC’s computer system to its fullest capability based upon job requirements.
14.  Presents a professional appearance and demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with
       patients, families, internal/external customers and BFC staff.
15. Assists in de-escalating patients in difficult situations.
16. Upholds Culture of Service Standards.

Hours of Work: Three separate shifts. Holidays and weekends required.

Other:     Personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency is preferred, either as a chemically dependent person in recovery or a family member in recovery.  Persons with a history of chemical dependency, prior to and throughout employment/providing services, shall be free of and have had the last two (2) years free of any chemical dependency.  Employees are expected to expand and update their knowledge of the chemical dependency field through formal and informal training modalities.

Education:

High School or GED, CNA preferred.

Experience:

Personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency, either as a chemically dependent person in recovery or a family member in recovery, is preferred.

Licensure:

CPR certification or completed within 90 days of hire. CA residents must show proof of valid CA driver’s license.

MEDICAL SERVICES

Registered Nurse/Staff Nurse - Per Diem

Competencies:

A.  Knowledge of the Nursing Process
B.  Knowledge of safe medication administration practices
C.  Proficiency in completing nursing assessment         
E.  Knowledge of 12 Steps.
F.   Knowledge of JCAHO Standards.
G.  Computer and typing skills – ability to use various software programs.
H.  Age Specific –  Knowledge of patient needs, growth and development for patients ages 18-to-65.
I.   Cultural – Able to communicate with patients/staff of varying cultural backgrounds

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Completes Admission Nursing Assessment and initiates the Plan of Care (POC) for patients on assigned halls.
  2. Completes nursing evaluations and updates POC as indicated by patient's current condition.
  3. Implements and monitors medication protocols.
  4. Responds to emergency medical/nursing situations.
  5. Acts as Interdisciplinary Team representative at Treatment Plan Update for assigned halls.
  6. Acts as a health and medication agent for patients and staff on assigned halls such as:
  7. Develop treatment plans to address withdrawals, psychological diagnoses and medical issues of patients.
  8. Follow up treatment plans with weekly reviews to either continue monitoring, defer, resolve or close them out in preparation for the TPU meetings.  This will include a weekly nursing summary note to  address every treatment plan's progress. 
  9. Review & update cardexs daily with pertinent information.

 

Education:

Minimum A.D.N. degree or diploma graduate of accredited school of nursing.

Experience:

Certificate in chemical dependency preferred, one-year chemical dependency or psychiatric nursing preferred. Background in research preferred. Personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency is preferred, either as a chemically dependent person in recovery or a family member in recovery.  

Licensure:

Current California RN license; current CPR certification / or completed within 90 days of hire.

FITNESS

Fitness Trainer - Per Diem

Competencies:

Computer knowledge of WordPerfect software/computer typing skills.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. 
Documentation skills for patients progress with fitness.
Organizational/time management.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge of exercise equipment operation and maintenance.
Group and Individual fitness training skills.
Age specific – ability to work with patients ages 18 to 65 plus.
Cultural Competency – ability to work with patients of varying cultural backgrounds. 
Good communication skills with both staff and patients.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides direct patient care as indicated.
2.  Evaluates and completes Fitness/Leisure assessment.
3. Provides fitness problems, goals, objectives, and interventions for the master treatment plan.
4. Supplies weekly progress notes in the medical record, recording the patient's progress.
5. Provides a final fitness assessment on each patient at the end of treatment.
6. Monitors and leads the activities:
. Body Conditioning. Stretching/yoga. Relaxation/Meditation. Aerobics
. Pool/Aqua Aerobics/Pool Volleyball, Weight Room training
. Facilitates Saturday/Sunday Fitness schedule
. Facilitates stress/pain management, documents patient progress
. Organizes and facilitates recreational physical activities
7. Attends and participates in inpatient treatment plan update meetings
8.Assures the timely submission and accuracy of incident reports
9.Works on two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or New Years Day).

Education:

Ability to facilitate groups in fitness and recreational activities.
Personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency, either as a chemically dependent person in recovery or a family member in recovery, is preferred.

Licensure:

CPR and AED certification or the ability to have within 30 days.  Have or be working toward a current AFAA Personal Fitness Training Certification within three months of hire date.  Have or be working toward a Community Water Safety Certification within three months of hire date.  Current California driver’s license.

FOUNDATION

Senior Development Officer Full-Time

Competencies:

a. Fund raising skills – all areas (Capital, major gifts, estate planning, special events and annual giving.)
b. Marketing/public relations skills
c. Strong communication skills – written and oral, including public speaking abilities
d. Understanding of recovery/treatment programs
e. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
f. Knowledge of Fund Raising/Development data base programs

Essential Job Functions
1. Create and oversee a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects with a potential of $25,000 and more for single gift and $5,000 or more for annual gift.
2. Supervise Major Gift Officers as assigned.
3. Supervise Annual Gifts Manager and oversee strategic plan for Annual Giving of Alumni and other prospects.
4. Key team member in planning and implementing any annual or special fundraising event.
5. Serves as interface between Estate Planning Office and identified prospects.
6. Serves in a senior role regarding any Board approved Capital campaign.
7. Senior member for Foundation Strategic Planning.
8. Develops and implements programs that maximize interest and participation in raising funds by alumni, foundations and other individuals.
9. Participates in the implementation of BFC direct mail and other giving programs as requested.
10. Participates in the implementation of donor acknowledgment and recognition programs.
11. Maintains updated notes, gift records and other donor information in the donor database and maintains complete written donor files.
12. Provides narrative reports for foundation publications.
13. Represents BFC at regional or national Alumni meetings, events, special projects and/or public meetings as assigned.
14. Works collaboratively with other staff and volunteers on BFC projects and special events as assigned.
15. Implements and upholds all BFC fund raising policies, procedures and ethical standards, including the Donor Bill of Rights.
16. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the President, Foundation or his designee.
 

Education:

Minimum four-year college degree.

Experience:

Five (5) years with Capital, Major Gifts and Annual Giving Campaigns.
Prefer someone with knowledge of addiction treatment field.

Licensure:

Must maintain valid California drivers’ license and auto insurance.

CD Counselor III Full-Time

Competencies:

• Understands and communicates effectively BFC’s philosophy of care for chemical dependency patients.
• Group counseling skills with adults and older adults from varying cultural backgrounds.
• Behavioral healthcare writing skills.
• Individual one-to-one counseling skills.
• Public speaking/lecturing skills.
• Knowledge of 12 Steps and abstinence based disease concept model of addiction recovery.
• Knowledge of TJC standards.
• Computer and typing skills – ability to use various software programs.
• Age and Gender specific counseling skills – Aware of needs of different age groups and genders.
• Multi-Cultural Counseling skills – Ability to communicate and aware of needs of patients of varying cultural backgrounds.

 

Education:

Master’s degree in behavior science and post graduate license required (CADAC not required but preferred) or Ph.D. in behavior science with minimum five years’ experience in chemical dependency counseling.  Degree is from a recognized regionally accredited college or university.

Experience:

Five years’ experience counseling chemical dependent clients and/or their families.  Personal experience with the disease of chemical dependency, either as a chemically dependent person in recovery or a family member in recovery, is preferred but not considered work experience.

Licensure:

Post graduate licenses include Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Masters Social Worker-Advanced Clinical Practitioner (LMSW-ACP), Psychological Associate (PA).  Also required C.P.R. certification or completed within 90 days of hire.

• Administers medications according to physician orders and safe medication administration practices.
• Provides patient education regarding medications and treatments.
• Communicates patient’s concerns, outcomes, needs and status to the nursing team.
• Demonstrates ability to use various forms of therapeutic communication when interacting with patients.
• Demonstrates the ability to work as a productive member of the nursing team.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the Twelve Step Program.

 

Education:

Graduate of accredited school.

Experience:

One year chemical dependency experience preferred.

Licensure:

Current California LVN license; CPR certification or completed within 90 days of hire.
